Idaho Rivers United and Idaho Conservation League present DamNation

Friday, April 10
6:30 pm Doors, 7:30 pm screening
Tickets: $8 at the door, $5 for students

The film, produced and directed by Patagonia, is being brought to Sandpoint by Idaho Rivers United and Idaho Conservation League. Both groups will make presentations about what they are doing to protect Idaho’s rivers and what you can do to help.

DamNation explores the sea change in our national attitude from pride in big dams as engineering wonders to the growing awareness that our own future is bound to the life and health of our rivers. Featuring beautiful cinematography and the return of wild waters to the West, the film carries viewers along rivers and through landscapes altered by dams and discovers a metamorphosis in values along the way: from the conquest of the natural world to knowing ourselves as part of nature.

“Dam removal has moved well past fiction and into the mainstream, and DamNation shows how far we’ve come—and how quickly things are changing,” said Idaho Rivers United Salmon Program Manager Greg Stahl. “Where obsolete dams come down, rivers bound back to life, giving salmon and other wild fish the right of return to historic spawning grounds after decades without access.”
