Post-screening community discussion

Sustainable Braintree is hosting a free screening of Wildlife Film Festival's 2015 award winning documentary DamNation on Saturday October 15th, 2PM at Thayer Public Library's Logan Auditorium. DamNation highlights the impacts of dams on sea run fisheries focusing on the restoration of the Elwha River, the largest dam removal in American history. The documentary magically captures the transformation of values in America from conquest of the natural world to a new awakening that we ourselves are a part of nature.

Like the salmon of the Elwha, the river herring of Braintree's Monatiquot River are blocked by an obsolete dam. Following the documentary we will discuss what is being done and what we can do about the Armstrong Dam that blocks herring passage to historic spawning habitat.
